Buzludzha Monument

"The Buzludzha Monument was constructed in 1981 to commemorate the founding of the Bulgarian Socialist movement nearly a century before, but now stands as a symbol of its failure. "

You all know how much I love decaying monumental soviet architecture. There is something so touchingly innocent and naive about the future it was supposed to have represented.

A Norwegian Tower Built for Monster-Watching

The Primitive Cathedral

The cathedral literally returns to its roots. Very nice.

"In 1987, Dutch artist Marinus Boezem planted De Groene Kathedraal (The Green Cathedral), an arboreal tribute that recreates the plan of Reims Cathedral, whose stone columns have been replaced with tall Italian poplars. The trees aren’t expected to reach their peak growth until 2015, when their imposing height will match that of Reims itself." via Architizer Blog.

World's Largest Wooden Structure Built in Spain

The Russian Avant Guard @ Tony Shafrazi Gallery NYC

What's that? Tony Shafrazi Gallery in NYC has a Tatlin Show and a show of Revolutionary Russian Film Posters? Work from a time when art and industry were not mutually exclusive? A time when everything the American Modernists thought they invented was actually invented? You should go.
